Genova 2025 Mascot: Octopus, Anchovy, and Lantern in the Final Selection for the Official Mascot
The online vote for choosing the official mascot of the European Fencing Championships saw great participation: 616 preferences were expressed by the public among seven proposals from the Barabino Klee State Art High School.
The Octopus, depicted with tentacles holding various types of fencing weapons, received the most votes (196), followed by the Anchovy (168 votes) and the Lantern (88 votes), reimagined as fencers.
Now, a jury composed of representatives from local and sports institutions, as well as from the national and local fencing community, will evaluate the proposals. Each member will assign scores to their three favorite mascots.
The winner will be announced on May 15, 2024, during the official press conference presenting the championships.
The president of FIS Liguria, Giovanni Falcini, praises the public’s participation and the work of the students from the Barabino Klee State Art High School, anticipating a difficult decision for the jury.
