Competence and love for fencing
The effort to bring the Senior European Fencing Championships to Genoa was notable and involved the Promoting Committee for almost a year. The work has been rewarded by the European Fencing Confederation with the award to Genoa in 2025.
The organisation of an international event that will involve over 40 European Fencing Federations, plus Turkey and Israel, will require a huge commitment. The members of the Organising Committee have professional depth, adequate skills and share a love for fencing.
The Board of Directors
President
Giuseppe Costa is President and CEO of “Costa Edutainment Spa”, a leader company in Italy in the management of public and private facilities dedicated to recreational, cultural, educational, study and scientific research activities.
“Costa Edutainment” currently manages the integrated “Acquario Village” system in Genoa (which includes the “Genoa Aquarium”, the “Città dei Bambini e Ragazzi”, the Biosphere and the Bigo), the “Cattolica Aquarium”, the “Livorno Aquarium”, the Oltremare theme parks and Aquafan in Riccione, “Italia in Miniatura” in Rimini and the “Le Caravelle Park” in Ceriale with its tourist village.
He is also President and CEO of “SAAR Depositi Portuali S.p.A.”, a port terminal dedicated to vegetable oils and liquid bulk addressed to the food, oil and gas industry and energy. Within the activity of “Saar Depositi Portuali” he is also President of “Sampierdarena Olii” and Director of “Depositi Portuali” and of “Depositi Costieri Savona”.
Since the end of 2022 he has been President of “Palazzo Ducale Foundation for Culture”, the main cultural production center in Genoa with important art exhibitions, events and conferences.
In Confindustria (the Italian Companies Federation) he is currently President of the Tourism Section of Confindustria Romagna and President of the Terminal Operators Section of Confindustria Genoa.
In 2018 he was nominated “Cavaliere del Lavoro” by the President of the Italian Republic.

In 1971 he began practicing fencing at Chiavari. As foil fencer, he won several regional category and senior titles, and was a finalist in the 1979 Italian category championship. In 1996 he graduated as a fencing coach in the 3 specialties of fencing, continuing to teach at his home club and for some years he collaborated with the national A-20 and senior epee team.
Organiser of many national competitions, in 2014 he organised the Mediterranean A-20 Championships, in 2017 the European Veterans Championships, since 2021 he has been president of the Ligurian Regional Committee of the FIS.
